Q: Why does my payment show 'Barak Tea Yuva Foundation' instead of 'Barak Kavach'?

Barak Kavach is an initiative of Barak Tea Yuva Foundation — the registered Section 8 non-profit company that runs it. All donations, receipts, and bank transfers are in the Foundation’s name. This is the same organization.

Question 1

Is Barak Kavach live yet?

Accepted Answer

No. The app is in development and the network is being built now. It goes live on Maha Navami, Monday 19 October 2026. Everything on this page describes what your donation is building, not something that already exists.

Question 2

Where does my money actually go?

Accepted Answer

All donations are received by Barak Tea Yuva Foundation (Section 8 Company, CIN U88900AS2025NPL029039), the registered non-profit behind Barak Kavach. Into the platform, volunteer verification and training, emergency readiness, and local awareness — in the proportions shown above. Nobody draws a salary from donations, including the founders. Monthly expense reports will be published once the pilot begins.

Question 3

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. Barak Tea Yuva Foundation is a registered Section 8 non-profit company, but 12A and 80G tax exemption registrations are separate and still in process. Until those are approved, donations are not eligible for tax deduction. When approved, the 80G number will be published on our transparency page.

Question 4

How do I know the money is safe?

Accepted Answer

Donations open only after the organization is registered and a verified account exists — that order is not negotiable. Payments are handled by Razorpay and UPI directly; the money never sits with an individual.

Question 5

Does this replace calling 112 or 108?

Accepted Answer

Never. Barak Kavach is a coordination network that sits alongside official services and points you to them first. In immediate danger, call 112. Every screen in the app does the same.

Question 6

Can I help without giving money?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it matters just as much. Volunteer roles exist both on the ground in the valley and remotely from anywhere in the world — verification calls, translation, design, outreach. Sharing this page with your family group is genuinely useful too.

Question 7
